7.0 About: How to archive research data
Archiving research data is a crucial part of the research process. It's not just about fulfilling data sharing requirements, but also about sharing your findings and making the results of your research publicly available. In this session you will learn about the basics of data archiving/sharing; why it is important, and what considerations you should take into account when you are in the process of archiving/sharing research data.
After working through this section, you should be able to:
- Understand the basic principles of how, where and when research data can be shared.
- Understand the benefits of sharing data and/or metadata openly.
- Identify reputable research repositories for archiving/sharing research data.
- Recognise how research data can be shared in accordance with requirements from funding bodies, institutions and journals.
- Determine what kind of data can be shared and how contributors should be credited.
